We are a family ranging from 4 to 73 y/o. We enjoyed the boat ride although sitting for awhile in a bumpy ride is not so comfortable still we had fun. Captain and crew were very friendly and informative. We saw a lot if dolphins and fishes while snorkeling at captain cook. We wish we even had more time snorkeling. My niece 6 y/o and nephew 4 y/o was their first time snorkeling and they were experts right away. I was kinda scared for them going into the water but they actually had the most fun. There was enough lunch and snacks and drinks for our family. We even brought home the leftovers. It’s also easy to find the location and once you book, you just show up and they were really nice. They even gave us sun screen to use. Also everything is provided for the snorkeling.

Fabulous experience for my family. Super easy pick up from the Pride of America and off we went to the volcano national park. Our guide Jodi was amazing. We had so much fun at the park exploring the different areas. Everything about this adventure was fantastic for my family and I highly recommend!

This was an amazing tour. We thoroughly enjoyed everything, Jodi is so engaging and knowledgeable. We had adults and teenagers and everyone enjoyed our tour. She customized to what we did and didn't want to do, timed it so we beat the crowds and buses. Highly recommend

Hiking with Backroad Adventures was hands-down the highlight of my trip to the Big Island. Shawn and Lisa were incredibly attentive and responsive to all of my questions, even before I officialy booked my tours. I joined them for both the Pololū Valley hike and the In-depth tour of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, and both were exceptional.My tours were well-organized, thoughtfully planned, educational and genuinely fun. Shawn's passion for Hawaiian ecology, especially native plants and birds, really stood out and added so much depth to the experience. I learned so much about the island's landscape, history, and cultural significance.What impressed me most was their flexibility and professionalism. Kīlauea erupted the day before our Volcanoes National Park tour, and they didn’t miss a beat. Very easy to book a tour on their website and communication with Shawn was a breeze. The tour itself was everything we wanted - a relaxed day visiting waterfalls around the island and then the National Volcano Park with excellent driving by Shawn. The restaurant he selected for lunch was perfect for our dietary needs and the restaurant for dinner has the the best view! I would highly recommend booking a tour with them if you're looking for a private tour of the island!

First of all the guide was beyond great. He was incredibly knowledgeable about everything. His knowledge and experience raised the tour to a level we’ve never experienced before. The itinerary was beyond complete. It covered everything listed and more. If fact we canceled another tour scheduled for later since it would have been redundant. The people we met a the various stops were very friendly outgoing and obviously proud of what they do. I could go on forever trying to describe our experience. I believe our guide was Jim.

There were 8 of us on a family trip to hawaii and we had the most amazing day with Morgan as our driver/tour guide. He was so fun, knowledgeable about the island, and the best photographer. We saw so many amazing sights and he was fully prepared with all of the things we needed for our beach time. The van was so comfy and the day flew by (in the best way) ! Highlight of our trip in Hawaii. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to see all the cool things Hilo has to offer.

We went on a Zodiak & snorkeling adventure with Captain Rick & Demonte. It was excellent. They were professional, friendly & very informative. We went early in the morning & Captain Cook Cove was quiet. The snorkeling was unbelievable. This one a great adventure & so much fun. What a wonderful time we had!! Seeing the volcano, waterfalls and the shore line of the big island was just amazing. Shawn our guide was very knowledgeable of the Island. Not only did we enjoy the sites, but we learned a lot ! Our daughters have food allergies so he made sure we had options when we went to lunch. I highly recommend this tour. We had a great trip learning all about big island and the Hawaiian culture. The bakery was a hit as well as all the other stops along the way. We didn’t get to see and real volcano action aside from smoke but it still a thrill to see.
