Agnes is the kind of guide you hope for but rarely get — warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to be around. From the moment she picked us up, she set the tone for an incredible day in Hilo. She knows SO much about the island, but she shares it in a way that feels like a great conversation, not a lecture. She welcomed every question we had (and we had plenty!), and she made it feel like she was genuinely excited to share more whenever we asked.She took us everywhere: an erupting volcano (yes, erupting!), local shops, a beautiful beach, waterfalls, gardens, and those massive banyan trees that make you feel tiny in the best way. Early on, she noticed how interested we were in the plants around us, so she started pointing out names, stories, and uses — and we even ended up tasting wild ginger on the side of the road. It was such a fun, unexpected moment that made the day feel even more personal.And when someone mentioned macadamia nuts, she didn’t hesitate — she made it happen. Agnes is flexible, thoughtful, and clearly loves what she does. Her car was stocked with water, snacks, and umbrellas, which tells you everything about how prepared and caring she is.This tour was one of our favorite experiences in Hawaii, and Agnes made it unforgettable. Book her — you’ll be so glad you did.

We had a great experience from beginning to end. Steve was very responsive and helpful. Our tour guide Amanda was very nice and knowledgeable. We enjoy learning about the culture. We were provided with a great meal, wich provided sample of local food. This was a nice unexpected touch. Overall, I was very pleased with the service. I would definitely recommend touring with Aloha Aina.

We had an outstanding experience on the Hilo Big Island Volcano Day Tour on July 23, 2026, with Tournet Hawaii, Inc., booked through Cool Hawaii. Our guide, Sean, was absolutely exceptional. His knowledge of Hawaii was remarkable—from its rich history and unique culture to the native plants, geology, and volcanic landscapes. Every stop was filled with fascinating information that made the island come alive. Sean kept the tour perfectly on schedule while still allowing everyone enough time to enjoy each destination. His restaurant recommendation was fantastic and turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. Throughout the day, he was friendly, engaging, and made a genuine effort to connect with every guest, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. One of the best tours that I have ever taken in all of my travels. Our driver was very knowledgeable, great stories and historical points. The hike was beautiful and rewarding. They worked with me on my last minute change to my pickup point without hassle. I definitely know who I am calling the next time I come to the biggest island in Hawaii.

We did the stargazing hike with Kalaninuimehameha while visiting Kona. It was truly the most amazing experience of our trip. He was so knowledgeable and fun. It was incredible learning about the Hawaiian culture. Then add in the star gazing and our night was made. I highly recommend doing a tour with Kalaninuimehameha! I will do more next time I’m here for sure! Thank you Kalaninuimehameha, you were amazing!

Fun, exilerating, and snuck in some learning!
We took the small boat tour out into Hilo bay for a two hour waterfall tour. Our captains, Koleco and Morgan, took excellent care of us. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire adventure. Morgan made the safety tour fun and interesting. In spite of no promises, we did get a pod of spinner dolphins that follwed us around for awhile and showed off why they’re called spinners. The scenery, old sugar mills, ans waterfalls were just all so lovely. Morgan was a great source of information about hos the sugar mills operated and shaped the coastline. Koleco was a master at avoiding as many of the larger swells and kept us relatively dry. It only really rained on us the last 15 minutes or so and in no way dampened our enjoyment of this trip. Great job, mahalo, brothers!

This was an amazing tour. Jason & Nicki are great! They taught us about off-grid, lava rock living. Jason is a fantastic artist with his paintings, tiki carvings, and upcycle art. Guava tea is unique and a must experience. We learned a lot walking around the property and can’t wait to visit again and see the continued vision come to life!! Amazing! Tour was given by very nice couple who cleared the property themselves and built all the structures, including a couple buildings, art with recycling and environmentally friendly homesteading. Tour had a little bit of everything, but I was impressed by the buildings and plants I've never seen in person. Also great hospitality!
