We had an excellent experience with Big Hawai’i Tours. Fred and Maryna were excellent hosts and very knowledgeable guides! Checking in on weather conditions to ensure the best views, and seeing so many beautiful places! We traveled very comfortably in their mini bus and they checked on us often to make sure we were comfortable or if anyone needed a bathroom break or a snack! I love supporting local businesses because they are the most invested in making sure you have a great experience or service and this held true with Big Hawai’i tours and at great prices too! Thanks for helping us make awesome memories in Hawaii and we will definitely book again when back on the Big Island 🌺🌴🌸 Trina Miller

Rain Didn’t Dampen a Wonderful Experience!
Our tour guide Sean and driver Eugene were excellent. Sean was very knowledgeable, professional and attentive. It rained during our entire tour - but we still had a wonderful time, and Sean had umbrellas. (Bring your rain gear and water resistant shoes just in case because it rains quite often in Hilo). We explored Volcanoes National Park, including Kilauea, Volcano House lodge, steam vents and lava flows. We loved Thurston Lava Tube and then went on to enjoy lunch at Hilo Farmers Market, where they had music and dancers. We also enjoyed Rainbow Falls, Big Island Candies, the gardens, and the black sand beach. This tour moves quickly to give you an opportunity to see as much as you can, but we did not feel rushed. Sean and Eugene kept everything going at a nice pace that gave us enough time to enjoy each location while still staying on schedule to see everything. Our group included one child (age 11) and two adults in their 70s, and they had no issues keeping up or accessing the attractions. The stairs into the lava tube can be a little slippery when wet, but we just went slow and everyone was fine. Great tour - and if it’s raining on the day you’re booked, don’t let that deter you. Just grab your rain gear and go. You won’t regret it!

Hiking with Backroad Adventures was hands-down the highlight of my trip to the Big Island. Shawn and Lisa were incredibly attentive and responsive to all of my questions, even before I officialy booked my tours. I joined them for both the Pololū Valley hike and the In-depth tour of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, and both were exceptional.My tours were well-organized, thoughtfully planned, educational and genuinely fun. Shawn's passion for Hawaiian ecology, especially native plants and birds, really stood out and added so much depth to the experience. I learned so much about the island's landscape, history, and cultural significance.What impressed me most was their flexibility and professionalism. Kīlauea erupted the day before our Volcanoes National Park tour, and they didn’t miss a beat. Jungle Fun Experience
We had wonderful time with Jason and Nikki exploring their jungle. They put a lot of work into this land making it accessible and wonderful place for enjoying the nature. All the art pieces, sculptures, tiki wood and stone carvings, paintings bring additional joy and make this jungle land a very unique place. We enjoyed so much that we had hard time to leave.
