Dave was our guide. It was a rainy day but he made the best of it. He is very knowledgeable. We only had 4 people on our tour. We were unable to swim due to the intensity of the falls but the overall experience was great fun.

In all my years of travel, I don't think I've had a better guide than Aaron. His passion for what he does spilled over to everyone on this excursion. We were hesitant with the impending Hurricane Nolo coming in the next day. Aaron was not only reassuring but he made adjustments and additions to our tour that extended the trip and added great value. Friendly, knowledgeable, safety-minded are just some of his attributes. Whenever I hear of someone I know who's visiting the big island, his tour WILL be the one I recommend. Well done Aaron! Mahalo!

We were on our daughters make a wish trip and one of our days for a snorkel trip had to be moved. boy are we glad that happened. It opened a day for us to book a trip with Hawaii Island Insider tours. We met Rae as strangers and left as friends forever. Rae is the best! words can not express how good he is at giving his tours. Absolutely no stress but keeps things on track and rolling. Rae provided all kinds of snacks and drinks. In the slower season the prices may reflect a discount you don’t get that as service from Rae his level of courtesy, knowledge and personality prove a worth beyond what anyone could ever pay. Look forward to the day our paths cross again.

We really enjoyed our one-day tour in Hilo. Ray (our tour guide) was very knowledgeable about the island and explained everything and answered every question. He also gave us plenty of time to explore each stop and offered snacks, drinks, etc. We were on the NCL cruise, and we got a much better deal with this tour. Highly recommended. Thanks!

Raymond Georges was an excellent tour guide. Not only was he very knowledgeable of his homeland, but his love of the Islands and his family (O'hana) immersed us into his world. He arranged our tour according to what we requested, but we also trusted his judgment to take us to places he knew visitors would want to experience. We felt very safe with his driving. And we appreciated that he had local bottled water and snacks available.On Maui & Kauai we rented a vehicle since we had 2 days, but with Kona (and Hilo) I totally recommend using Hawaii Island Insider Tours instead because it was so very EASY!! We didn't have to Uber to the airport and go thru the hassle of getting a rental. Instead we just got off the tender boat (or ship in Hilo) and there he was...waiting for us with a big smile. We just hopped in his vehicle and off we went to explore Kona! It was a perfect day!

Very Excellent Adventure Tour
What an excellent tour! Our guide, Garry, was so knowledgeable and interesting. So fun to explore with him. The tour picked us up at our rental house in a nice Sprinter van. We got to go onto private land which is pretty much uninhabited. They provided walking sticks, rain jackets, towels, day packs, snacks - everything was in great condition and excellent quality (ie. Patagonia jackets). It was so interesting to learn about the land and peoples who populated it originally. The hike was exactly as described - mild walking about 1-2 miles. Unfortunately, we were there the day before Hurricane Lala hit the island and the waterfalls were enormous so no swimming for us. Garry was amazed because he had been there 2 days prior and the size of the waterfalls was at least half to 3/4 of what we saw. We were disappointed to miss the swimming in the waterfalls but....that's nature for you. We had an excellent lunch afterwards. This tour is pricey but well worth it. I would definitely use Hawaii Forest & Trail again for other adventures.

Our Guide Kamalani was very informative on the island and we enjoyed the UTV tour and the course was muddy which made it very good for the tour. Got to taste guavas along the tour. Its great for Local families that hasn't done ATV/ UTV riding before. They teach you how to use the equipment before going out. Locals call to book your reservation:)

Need to stop at Longs...no problem...want the best poke on the island...he takes you there also. Much better deal than NCL tours which are cattle drives, this is a personal GREAT trip. Fantastic adventure. Great way to see the Big Island and all its charms in one day. From black sand beaches all the way to volcanic craters, what a perfect day. Our guide Lewis was phenomenal. If you book this trip, call the Company and ask for him. He is that good. Knowledgeable, friendly, adaptable, everything you want in a guide.
