We had a wonderful day on our private tour of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park from our cruise ship, thanks to Katelynn! From start to finish, everything was smooth, well organized, and stress-free. Katelynn was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. She answered all of our questions with patience and shared so much interesting information about the volcanoes, the island, and the local history. The scenery was absolutely incredible, and having a private tour allowed us to explore at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed. Katelynn made sure we saw all the highlights while also tailoring the experience to our interests. Don our guide, was very down to earth, friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable. He showed us many of the fabulous tourist highlights (Rainbow Falls, Hawaiian Volcanos National Park, Banyan Drive, Hilo, etc.). Which we really enjoyed. However, what we enjoyed the most was how Don provided us with the local perspective on the history, culture, people, native animals and plants. He also took time to give us access to the local cuisine (I loved the poi), shopping and people. We really appreciate how he seeks to develop an authentic relationship with you. We highly recommend this great experience!

Good bang for your buck
We met Don Snyder, owner of his own tour bus in Hilo and decided that his price was reasonable. I can't praise him enough. Friendly, patient, informative and timely. He really covered the territory to give us the most exposure to sights and features as was possible in a six hour day. Sharing his knowledge and experience of living in the area was a bonus. It's obvious he loves his job and enjoys giving people a good time. I felt safe with his driving and felt he was a responsible tour guide. Thanks Don, we'll see you next time!

Mother daughter fun day
My daughter and I had so much fun riding around in this fun car! The roads are winding with beautiful water views on one side and mountains on the other. We were able to go at our own pace and stop wherever we wanted. We started at 1 and it was a cool ride back at night but we really enjoyed the day! If you are looking for a fun way to see the island I highly recommend a slingshot!!

This was a great tour! Our tour guide Anni picked us up on time. Anni was a great source of the island geographic and cultural elements paying special attention to our needs. She transported us to the Mauna Kea visitor center first where we spent about 45 minutes acclimatizing to the elevation (about 9000feet). Then it was on to the top, almost 14000 feet (you need a 4 wheel drive vehicle for this). It was an unusually clear and calm day according to Anni so we got some great pictures. Then back to the visitor center where Anni shared some of the local fruits with us she had brought. From there we headed back to Hilo and visited a couple of local art galleries and a beautiful downtown park. Anni then returned us to our condo by mid afternoon. An especially enjoyable tour made special by our guide Anni.

Loved it. A surprising find at 14,000 feet.
One of the better excursions on the island I enjoyed. Especially recommended if you are intrigued by observatories, lava flows and want something completely different. Recommended visits are for sunrise or sunset but we were there mid-day and enjoyed it any way - and only a light jacket was necessary with the sun shining. An expensive tour but it is a small group and the park requires four-wheel drive vehicles to go to the summit. There is a visitor center with several exhibits and souvenier shop at about the 9,000 ft. level which regular cars can visit. The mountain itself has a variety of different kinds of lava, lots of different observatories which you can walk around but not enter. Several peaks have Hawaiian shrines on top which you can view from the distance and the Rainbow falls was an added bonus. The guide was very experienced and provided lots of commentary during the trip. He also provided water, snacks and heavy coats if desired. Overall, I was very impressed.

The slingshot was a lot of fun. A lot of people were talking to us about it. The guy that checked us in was really nice. I didn't know that you would have to ask for him to program the GPS into what they said we were going to get when we got there. Instead, he gave us a map and circled a lot of waterfalls. The map was not up to par for people who didn't know the area. It showed roads that weren't there and we didn't get to see any waterfalls! Overall, other than being very frustrated with the lack of programmed GPS and a good map, we had a good time. Just remember that if you go in, ask for the programmed GPS. He said he would have brought it up for us had we asked. It's just a shame that we didn't know we had to ask. But it was fun.
