Rom from Nomad tours was incredible! So knowledgeable, he shared interesting facts related to the trip during our long drive from Kona. He went above and beyond to make our tour the highlight of the trip. By sheer luck, the volcano was erupting the day we had planned to tour the Volcano National Park but despite our best efforts, the park closed literally as we arrived… Rom was kind enough to schedule another day to take us out and finish the tour. Truly unforgettable and we were so appreciative! Worth every cent, if you are on the fence about whether it’s worth the money, book now!

We were a family of 5 and this tour was curated just for us! Rom is incredibly knowledgeable in all things Hawaii. He was informative, always attentive to our questions and needs and made everyone feel comfortable. The views were breathtaking. At sunset we went stargazing and his astrophotography expertise was a hit with everyone. We were able to catch amazing pictures! Our Hilo excursion with Nomad Tours was truly the highlight of our trip to Hawaiʻi! From the lush rainforest at Akaka Falls to the dramatic landscapes of Volcanoes National Park, every moment was unforgettable. The views were breathtaking, especially the steam vents and lava tube—like stepping into another world!The stop at Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach was magical—we even saw sea turtles resting on the shore. And the short visit to Rainbow Falls was a great surprise!What made the day extra special was our guide, Rom. He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and passionateabout Hawaiian history and culture. Rom shared beautiful stories about Pele and the island’s volcanic origins, answered every question with care, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged. Our crew was very helpful and taught us basic deep sea fishing skills. They were very friendly and entertained us while we waiting for fish to bite. When pilot whales were spotted they took us to the area to watch. Highly recommend this company!

What an incredible day! Captain Nate and Aaron were the best! No fish were biting in the first few hours, but Aaron kept us entertained with stories and jokes. The last hour we caught fish after fish (two yellowfin Ahi and two Aku). Then, when we were headed back to the dock, Captain Nate spotted some Mahi-Mahi following us, and BAM! We had two Mahi-Mahi strikes at the exact same time! One of them got off the hook, but the other one was brought aboard at 31 lbs, 57 1/2 inches. What an exciting day! Highly recommend! Thanks, Nate and Aaron for a great day of sport fishing!

This full-day tour was unforgettable! From steam vents and lava tubes to the Kīlauea Iki hike and black sand beach, every stop was breathtaking. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the experience both fun and educational. A must-do if you're visiting the Big Island!

This full-day tour of Volcanoes National Park was the highlight of our trip to the Big Island! Every stop was thoughtfully planned, and we truly felt like we experienced the best of Hawaii’s natural wonders in one amazing day.Our guide was exceptional — knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the island’s volcanic history and culture. We explored steam vents, walked through the incredible Thurston Lava Tube, and had breathtaking views of Halemaʻumaʻu Crater. The 2-hour hike across Kīlauea Iki Crater was unforgettable — standing on a once-molten lava lake was like walking on another planet!We also loved the scenic drive down to the Hōlei Sea Arch and the visit to the beautiful black sand beach at Punaluʻu, where we were lucky enough to see sea turtles resting on the shore.The tour was well-paced, educational, and full of jaw-dropping landscapes. If you want a deep and meaningful experience of Hawaiʻi’s volcanic power and beauty, this tour is an absolute must. We left with incredible memories and a new appreciation for the island’s natural forces.

Momi and Brad were are crew and they were awesome. They felt aweful that we didn’t catch any fish. Even though we didn’t catch a fish enjoyed the outing.

Our family spent the day with Capt Taylor and deck hand Nakai (sp?)... it was a great day! The kids got to reel in reef fish and see dolphins, and the guys were hooked into 3 mahi mahi at the same time!! So exciting!! Landed 2 of the 3!

Reserved a boat that was supposed to be air-conditioned. We were sailing on the Bite Me 6 and there was no A/C. Just long plastic strips in the doorway. Those inside suffered from lack of fresh air and the strong smell of diesel fuel. Even though the passengers had taken Dramamine, the hot and stuffy air and the fuel smell combined to make two sick; one seeking the back of the boat three times. He was miserable due to those conditions along with rough seas. Captain Nate said it was the second roughest water he sailed. One fish caught on the way back to port, as we were told it was going to get rougher once we got around the point, so cut the trip short. Also, lack of outside seating. Two coolers on either side of the doorway for six people; no actual seats. Two had to stand as the boat bucked it way back; disappointing trip.

We had an absolutely marvelous day, thanks in large part to the skipper, Taylor and skipper to be, Momi, who made the day special, even with some first timers. Our activities included deep sea fishing, swimming w/dolphins, and snorkeling in the grotto with tropical fish! The crew took us where we wanted to go and were extremely supportive of any and all of our requests. Half of our group was from the East coast and had the day of their lives! All of the equipment, down to the coolers, were provided by the crew. The crew's knowledge and expertise made it the most memorable day which included cleaning 100 pounds of fish caught. We had a delicious dinner of Oh-no fish that night! Thanks Taylor and Momi from a thankful group of 8, some first timers.

A great day spent on the "Ocean Encounters" for the whole family. Nine of us, ages 1 to 66. Saw dolphins on the way out of the harbor and soon caught a blue Marlin. After 18 minutes of reeling, caught and released a nice fish. Fished our way over to Kealakekua Bay and snorkeled for an hour. A really great place to snorkel, especially as the bottom dropped off to a good depth. Later caught a 2 foot Yellow Fin Tuna which put up a good fight and fed us for the next 3 days. Yum! Nice day to be out and seeing the island from 3-4 miles out was great. Charlie and Sean are great, especially cleaning the tuna and telling us how to cook it.
