We had an excellent experience with Big Hawai’i Tours. Fred and Maryna were excellent hosts and very knowledgeable guides! Checking in on weather conditions to ensure the best views, and seeing so many beautiful places! We traveled very comfortably in their mini bus and they checked on us often to make sure we were comfortable or if anyone needed a bathroom break or a snack! I love supporting local businesses because they are the most invested in making sure you have a great experience or service and this held true with Big Hawai’i tours and at great prices too! This was a great experience and we had a wonderful time. They went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure we saw what we wanted and even took us to a slightly different spot when part of the volcano was clouded in. They even got us local treats to try.

We followed the itinerary and our guide Jess kept us to time. She provided a lot of interesting information while she drove - what a talent. We enjoyed the sights and experiences on this tour.

My extended family of 6 with ages ranging from 90 to 19 booked the Big Island in a day tour. While the tour encompassed a full 9-10 hours of the day, our guide Leon provided an excellent experience. He provided knowledge of the history island as well as the geology needed to understand the island’s origins. In addition, he made the journey personal by relying family and friends of his that lived in the various villages and towns that we toured through. My entire family enjoyed the outing which is no small feat given the variety of personalities. Thoroughly looking forward to another tour when we return to the Big Island. Highly recommended this adventure. You won’t regret it!

Agnes is the kind of guide you hope for but rarely get — warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to be around. From the moment she picked us up, she set the tone for an incredible day in Hilo. She knows SO much about the island, but she shares it in a way that feels like a great conversation, not a lecture. She welcomed every question we had (and we had plenty!), and she made it feel like she was genuinely excited to share more whenever we asked.She took us everywhere: an erupting volcano (yes, erupting!), local shops, a beautiful beach, waterfalls, gardens, and those massive banyan trees that make you feel tiny in the best way. Early on, she noticed how interested we were in the plants around us, so she started pointing out names, stories, and uses — and we even ended up tasting wild ginger on the side of the road. It was such a fun, unexpected moment that made the day feel even more personal.And when someone mentioned macadamia nuts, she didn’t hesitate — she made it happen. Agnes is flexible, thoughtful, and clearly loves what she does. Her car was stocked with water, snacks, and umbrellas, which tells you everything about how prepared and caring she is.This tour was one of our favorite experiences in Hawaii, and Agnes made it unforgettable. Book her — you’ll be so glad you did.

As well as a stop at spectacular Rainbow falls, this tour took us the the part of the island where the 2018 lava flow carved its way through anything in front of it on its way to the sea. We also visited the island’s newest and spectacular black sand beach. Our tour guide Lori was a lovely woman who had lots of stories to tell about the island, including educating us on the Hawaiian language!

Locally run small business, with great customer service. The owner/driver, Ray is very accomodating and informative. The locations we visited were absolutely amazing. Great value for money!

Rebecca was amazing! Kind, flexible, and accommodating to any group or limitations you have! She called within minutes of me booking just to go over every detail and reassure me of the itinerary and that she was able to pick me up from our hotel even though the website said it was out of policy. She accommodated a family or two elderly grandparents and a 2 yr old toddler. We were changing our pickup time and whether we wanted to do a day or night tour all the way up until the night before and she was so accomodating and doing research to give us minute by minute suggestions. I will totally book with her again the next time I come back!

This self guided tour was everything! I loved that it gave us the option to choose our own adventures. If we passed something, the tour would recognize it and move on to the next thing. It was so nice to have something that linked directly to gps for us. When we lost internet connection in the rainforest, this tour got us through to the main road. The tour guide had an awesome voice too!

I had such a great experience! The smaller group made it so much easier to see more places and explore the Big Island efficiently without feeling rushed. Rae was an amazing and incredibly knowledgeable guide who made the entire day fun and interesting. He kept us stocked with drinks and snacks throughout the day and even ended with a fun quiz to see what we remembered from everything we learned. I’d definitely recommend this over a large group tour if you really want to experience and learn about the Big Island!

This was a really special excursion. Stunning views of the stars and the warm hot cocoa helped with the cold weather. They provided jackets which was extremely helpful! The cave was really cool too.

It was everything we wanted. Our guide was personable, entertaining, and a wealth of knowledge. He took very good care of us and I would recommend this tour to everyone.

Jill, our guide, was amazing! She is a native to Hilo and had great stories that made the tour come alive! Her knowledge of the history of the area made the tour personal, educational, and culturally relevant. I cannot express what a wonderful experience this was.
