Highlight of our visit to the Big Island
This was an amazing trip. Pickup was convenient and very prompt. They followed up with multiple messages regarding pickup, schedule, what to expect, what to bring and more. We had requested a special meal and they made sure to fulfill that with a very delicious sandwich.The ride up to the location was scenic with our tour guide Shoyo giving us quite a bit of inside information of the landscape and the culture of the place. He made sure we stopped at a certain altitude to ensure we were all comfortable once we got to the summit. He provided warm jackets, pants and gloves as it did get very cold up there.Our luck it was a beautiful clear day for the sunset and it was amazing. We wish we could have stayed longer (but there is only that long the sunset lasts). We saw several telescopes and some of them were opening up for the night research and it was great to get a peek inside. Shoyo took pictures for all of us with the sunset scenes. RIght after the sunset, we came down to a lower level of the mount and watched the stars. that was an awesome experience. we got to see several stars with explanation about them and ties to the Polynesian names/connections to some of the constellations. The highlight was the pictures of us with the milky way in the background. we will treasure that always.We recommend this tour for anyone who has in interest in sunsets or stars and astronomy.Loved it!!!

We booked this trip last minute after being cancelled on the day before by another company; I can’t believe how lucky we were that the other company cancelled since it pushed us to book with Hawaiian Eyes! Wes, our tour guide, was incredibly experienced and it showed. He was super knowledgeable about the area and made sure to share information multiple times to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. He found the best spots to view the sunset and stars from, and was able to sneak in a few extra peeks of some cool sites; we were super lucky that the clouds stayed below the summit and we got some spectacular views despite a dubious forecast. I would have found the drive back down Mauna Kea to be quite scary due to the dense fog if Wes hadn’t been driving but his knowledge of the road was such a massive comfort that I fell asleep on the ride back. I cannot recommend this tour more!

What an absolutely incredible experience! Dale was our pilot, and he was amazing! Great commentary along with being very funny and informative! The landing down by the waterfall was amazing! 🤩 we also especially loved flying by the coast with all the waterfalls streaming down into the ocean! And flying into the canyons!! It was absolute magic! This was an unforgettable experience! ❤️ what a great way to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary!

I was hesitant to bring my mother and 5yo kid as reading reviews about sea sickness but I’m so glad I didn’t cancel. It was absolutely the highlight of our Big island trip and even my 5yo kid who’s very scared of water and darkness enjoyed it. The floating bed was great for kid and non-swimmers and my kid didn’t need to be in the water at all to see manta rays. Some review said Iruka is farther away to the manta ray location (15-20min boat trip) vs some other companies have shorter trips (5-10min) so sea sickness could be worse. My whole family was just fine, we each took a Dramamine an hour before the tour and we didn’t get sickness at all. Crew member airdropped us the GoPro videos they took for free. I recommend Iruka to any family with kids or elderly or non-swimmers.

Snorkeling Big Island is a wonderful family-owned company that keeps group sizes small, which made us feel so well cared for. ​Captain Dylan, Elion, and Billy were outstanding guides. Billy was incredible with my daughter—she was terrified at first, but his encouragement made her feel safe enough to enjoy it. The rays came so close, almost touching us! Kona Natural Soap is truly more than great soap! Greg, the co-owner/tour guide, provided us with a behind the scenes look at a coffee farm and working soap “factory”. He takes a lot of pride in his property and likes to share his knowledge with visitors. He seems to customize the tours based on his audience. Me and my boyfriend went on this tour and it was really enjoyable! From the communication on where to meet up, the ride out to the bay (our captain Koa was great!), snorkeling, and tour after was great! Lucas was also very nice and helpful if you needed anything. They cut up fresh pineapple as a snack and even handed out cold waters which was much needed. They had a great sense of humor and truly just wanted us to enjoy ourselves. I would do this again (and it’s a great price). Thank you so much for making our trip great!

The check in was a little off putting to meet at van on the corner of a street, the listing for sure needs to be updated with all the information that was texted to me, especially with the prices of different supplies offered, I felt as if I was a little blindsided by text message with all the additional information. The crew once on board was great, very a shared a lot of fun history and information about the local area and gave us a more information of the lore of Captain Cook. I would for sure book again.
