Maui Audio Guided Tours

This self-guided audio tour was perfect for us!! We were able to go at our own pace and soak up all the majestic beauty of Haleakala! It was magnificent, the audio was spot on with what we were seeing. It included local stories and so many facts about the geography and history which gave a special meaning to our trip. It was a wonderful way to see all the beauty that Maui has to offer!! Thank you for giving us a fabulous day!!

Note: departure at Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport restrooms are downstairs, inside accessible by elevator. One has to get to the airport on your own to Hawaiian Airlines for a.quick flight. I must state that Hawaiian Airlines provided excellent service for the handicap. Once at the airport Polynesia Adventures tour takes over and arranges everything. Once at the Kahulu Airport make your way to the designated stop where you will transfer at Safeway supermarket to your tour bus. Restroom outside at airport.. After a long drive up the mountain of Haleakala National Park to the Haleakala Volcano to see the2.5 mile crater from last eruption of 1790. Bus can only go as far as the visitor's center, a lookout and restroom break. Able body tourist can hike up to the summit. They are building wind turbines there. Cool temperatures and very windy. Twice the wind almost blew my wheelchair over the cliff. Then off to Iao Valley State Park tropical rainforest to hike through the Iao Ethnobotanic Garden. Loved it and its emphasis on Hawaiian crop production ancient farming technics. From there one walks across the bridge but the uphill climb is for able bodied only. View the roaring river. At Makawao our included lunch at Hali'maile General Store restaurant, a former merchandise store now a busy popular restaurant Official entrance upfront has many steps. Handicap entrance is on the parking lot side.Good service, I believe my server was the owner. I ate fish. You have to request salt and pepper. Nonalcoholic drinks included. Afterwards we toured the glassblowing demonstration and art gallery across the street. Loved it. Next door is the Hali'imaile Distillery for a tour and tasting with a small souvenir shoppe. This organic farm makes Pineapple vodka. Afterwards we visited the Maui Tropical Plantation in Wailuku. Love this place. Tropical orchards, fruit and vegetable market, gift shop with restaurant and shop in the back . Beautiful landscaped with electic art works of wood or metal. Restrooms way in the backyard. Wish we spent more time here. Wheelchair accessible. Then homeward bound to your hotel or to Kahulu Airport.

Excellent pacing; well narrated with island vibe. We did all stops; albeit some abbreviated. Program even endorsed by the park ranger we met on a trail. Enjoyable for entire trip. Finally: an app that works as advertised. Never a glitch.

This is an awesome guide. Make reservation before you go. The directions and narration from point to point was on point. I would use shaka guid if I ever travel to other places.

While using, be sure to keep a close eye on the map lest you inadvertently stray. The music plays even when you are far off the path.

I was able to follow along with the directions without having to use any kind of GPS. I enjoyed learning about the history of the island.

Long day with 2 hour lead time at honolulu airport.

The guide was good, I only used it on the first day. Forgot to turn it on when we drove to the Hilo side of the big island.

Drove right to the end. No highway at that point. Surprised by the 'A'a lava fields. Chose one of the many beaches for a swim; waves were a bit to much for us to really swim.

Perfect. And so much cheaper than a guided tour. We only made it to 1/2 way before turning around. Motion sickness took us down.

The Maui Sunset & Stargazing at Haleakalā Audio Driving Tour was fantastic! The narration was engaging—informative but not overwhelming. I loved that it wasn’t just constant talking; there was a nice balance with instrumental music between stops, which made the drive even more enjoyable. The tour gave helpful suggestions and pointed out things to look for ahead on the road, making the experience smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Haleakalā!

Came across this app on Cool Hawaii and I cannot say enough good about it! It has completely changed the way we vacation. It is probably the most thorough, useful, and exact tour guide I have ever experienced (even including the live tours I have done!) I have done a few tours on Maui with this app and it never gets old. It has everything! Including: interesting facts between stops, exact directions to many well-known and less well-known stops, tips for navigating different roads, weather cautions, tips on scheduling out your time depending on when you start the tour, up-to-date food options and restroom locations, and to round it all out - chill island songs between locations! Seriously, the best money I’ve spent on Maui. I recommend it to everyone. Please make more tours for everywhere!

All of the stops were great….all of the history was great…seeing the culture and hearing the culture was fabulous…I recommend highly.. Arnold

A Visit to Maui is a MUST DO!! Beautiful Island,Very friendly. The Cool Hawaii App on your phone is wonderful. Easy to use. Great Narrations and descriptions of where you are going and what you will see.

This tour was awesome. Lots of great information- felt like we got everything we need and got to go at our own pace vs. an expensive bus tour.
