Beautiful hike.
Deborah was our guide. She did an excellent job pointing out different foliage, birds and lava formations. The hike was difficult at times but she was very cautious and made sure we were all safe. The lava tube was great. Would definitely recommend this hike but be aware that we climbed to almost 6000 feet and it wasn’t easy. THis is great tour company.

We had a rainy day with the approaching storm, however we were pleased the tour still was operating despite hearing that other tours were cancelled. Donna was fantastic tour guide, providing us history tidbits about the island and the various stops. We even had time for a bonus stop at Big Island Candies. We didn’t do a stop at the black sand beaches but we didn’t really feel like we missed anything. Tour was actually 24 people despite being advertised as 12 max, however that didnt impact our ability to enjoy the trip. The stop at macadamia nut farm was cool to be able to see the trees and the lunch was delicious.

During our Big Island vacation, we intentionally stayed on the Hilo side for a few days, to make sure we did a tour of the Volcano National Park. Our travel agent recommended using Cool Hawaii, so that's where we started. We like the idea of a smaller group, so that's the one we chose. Turned out that Mauka Makai Adventures was our tour provider, and Jill was our tour guide. We couldn't have been luckier. Their van is newer, and very comfortable. And I can't imagine anyone any more knowledgeable than Jill. She literally grew up on the side of the volcano (in the little village of Volcano), and she knew everything about the volcano and it's history. She was constantly telling us stories about the area, which was awesome. She also knew the answer to every question anyone in the group asked. I can't say enough positive things about Jill, and strongly recommend anyone considering a volcano national park tour, to specifically request Mauka Makai. We didn't meet Jill's husband Josh, but I did speak to him twice. I'll be he's as good as Jill. And this is the only tour they do now, so they are really focused on doing the volcano tour right. Great experience.

Excellent day visiting Richardson black sands, Macadamia nut factory, the fantastic national volcanoes park, the beautiful Rainbow Falls with a bonus trip to the big island candy store. Andre was our guide and he was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable and amusing. Lovely to have just 11 passengers on the bus. Ensured we were back to the cruise ship with plenty of time to spare. One of the best days of our holiday.

Our tour guide was Jill, and she was phenomenal. Very knowledgeable about the area (has lived on the island her entire life) and could answer any question we had. Each stop was well worth it. Jill even gave us suggestions on what to do the next day.

Raymond Georges was an excellent tour guide. Not only was he very knowledgeable of his homeland, but his love of the Islands and his family (O'hana) immersed us into his world. He arranged our tour according to what we requested, but we also trusted his judgment to take us to places he knew visitors would want to experience. We felt very safe with his driving. And we appreciated that he had local bottled water and snacks available.On Maui & Kauai we rented a vehicle since we had 2 days, but with Kona (and Hilo) I totally recommend using Hawaii Island Insider Tours instead because it was so very EASY!! We didn't have to Uber to the airport and go thru the hassle of getting a rental. Instead we just got off the tender boat (or ship in Hilo) and there he was...waiting for us with a big smile. We just hopped in his vehicle and off we went to explore Kona! It was a perfect day!

BEST SNORKEL ON THE BIG ISLAND! Captain Skyler took my lady and I on the best snorkel trip we have ever had. His knowledge of the island, its history, and best spots to go was top tier. My only regret is that we did not book the manta rays with him and sea quest. Highly recommend sea quest and ask for captain skyler as he made an already good trip, the greatest.
