We went in September 2026. The clouds prevented us from seeing the sunset from the top but our guide kept trying places until we were able to see the beautiful sunset. He also stopped at a place where we could see the stars and the Milky Way. How impressive! The guide's knowledge of Hawai'i made the trip even more enjoyable. Great job!

We did the sunset tour on September 2026. While we couldn’t view the sunset from the summit due to the clouds, our guide took us down to lower elevations where we could see the colors and then eventually the stars. It was very clear our guide was super knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culture of the islands. He told so many stories while we drove and my husband and I learned a lot. It was nice that both of us could enjoy the scenery rather than one of us paying attention to the road!

Shelby was great, we did the half day tour and she made sure to pack in as many sites and activities as we could! She made things easy and customized the tour based on our preferences/what we wanted to do. We were able to explore the lava fields, South Maui, Oneuli Beach, and the inland waterfalls. We even got to see some neat wildlife along the way as well. Would highly recommend for anyone staying in Maui looking for a customized tour of the island!

Lave and seals and waterfalls!! Oh my!!
This tour was hands down, the best we’ve experienced in a long time. Shelby listened and took us to the places we wouldn’t have been otherwise. Off the beaten path and into the lava fields. We saw sea turtles, a monk seal (it was huge!). Then on to the bamboo forest for a hike. We crossed a fast flowing river on our way to see the waterfalls. Amazing isn’t enough. Shelby was knowledgeable and so sweet to entertain us and keep us busy. Time well spent. Money well spent. Perfection. Thank you Cool Hawaii and thank you Shelby.

We scheduled a half day to Hana & the Haleakala Crater sunset tour with Erik. He was very informative about the tour & was able to fit me in a few weeks before the tour. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip to Hawaii at the last minute & Erik was very understanding & immediately refunded me the full amount of the tour. When we get the opportunity to return to Hawaii I will definitely rebook with Erik again!

100/10– A MUST DO
We used Shaka Guide for the Road to Hana, and I am still absolutely bewildered by the app and how it functions! Downloading this guide was the best decision that we have made on our trip.There is truly no way we would have survived the Road to Hana without it. Our phones were in SOS Mode for 99% of the trip, so we could not use our own map/navigation, but somehow the app still knew exactly where we were and what we were passing. The guide was so spot on, it was as if he was sitting in the car with us– right down to the people illegally parking by the bamboo path and trespassing on the land– the accuracy was unbelievable. We are so grateful to Shaka Guide for getting us through those winding, and sometimes treacherous, roads while feeding us information on everything from the land to the fruit stands and best places to stop for food. 100/10. I have been raving about it to our fellow tourists, and I will continue to spread the word when I hear people are coming to Maui!

The road to Hana is not for the faint of heart, and it’s definitely not something that should be attempted by the uninitiated. To attempt this on your own will only sour the experience. Having a professional tour guide behind the wheel allowed my family to get the most out of the experience. Peter was informative, professional and knowledgeable.
