Kauai Fun and Games

This is a 2 hr scavenger hunt like no other. The tour operator communicated with us via WhatsApp messaging and encouraged our group to split into teams and come up with a team name - the competition began. We used an app to randoming sort our family of 6 (plus a baby) into 2 groups. As it turned out, the extroverts in our family were grouped together giving them a decided advantage. Tara walked us through the concept of the hunt - the goal is to learn some new things about Hanalei (where our hunt was happening), and Hawai'i in general. We all had a lot of fun searching out locations, deciding what we would do for certain challenges, meeting locals and finding out a lot of new and interesting things about the area and the Hawaiian culture. A day later and we're still talking about some of the characters we met and how we approached different challenges. Would highly recommend doing this activity with a group of friends or family; breaking up into teams was a great idea! Thanks Tara for the fun experience!

We had a lot of fun! Know that this isn’t just a “find the things” but also an “interact with the locals” hunt. It took a bit for my shy kids to come around to that but it was great time. Thanks, Tara!

This was a surprising and fun introduction to the island. You can tell it’s designed and hosted by a tour guide and storyteller who had us doing creative photos and videos and searching for clues. Glad we did this on our second day on the island. It was conveniently near where we stayed at the Pono Kai. We found it on our own online. Concierge didn’t know about it. The kids had fun too.

Wow! What a fun and refreshing new shore excursion in Kauai! We love cruising and have been to Kauai before. We did Waimea Canyon last time. It was pretty for sure but a ton of time in the car.. I didnt want to do that with the kids this time and was trying to figure out a good alternative.. my cruise director didnt even have this in the activities list! I found it myself online on Cool Hawaii! Maybe because its so new? The host said it was a brand new location and I think we were some of the first to do it, though she said she has hunts in other locations, one on the north shore on Hanalei. It was so different than any other shore excursion we have done. It was small and personal instead of large scale and impersonal. The kids had a great time being detectives on the hunt, being creative and getting fun clues with our phone and we even met some awesome locals we would never have talked to without the hunt. Great price, too.. less than any other shore excursion. I just wish this was offered at all the ports!

So looking for things to do we ran across this excursion. We had no preconceived expectations and had an absolute blast. Tara was an awesome host! Very communicative and upbeat. We were given a list of 18 clues and a meeting point. We worked our way through the clues, met some unique folks, learned some new cultural things. It did take us a bit to get through the clues and we had to surrender but I highly recommend this excursion ! What a a bargain price wise but fun wise was a treat!!

We had a bit of a miscommunication with Tara and were unable to attend the Hunt. Tara was extremely kind. She promptly issued a full refund, and we truly appreciated how professionally she handled the situation. I would definitely try to do this excursion again.

What a treat; While we did not complete all the missions, we had such fun talking with people, discovering local facts, posing as animals and exploring Hanalie.Great interactive fun!

This scavenger hunt was a blast. We had two couples on it.What a great way to better see the things that made Hanalei the community that it is today. A mix of history culture and tourism combined all in a couple of hours.We love doing walking tours wherever we go and Cats Meow will be in the top of our list wherever available.Thanks Tara we loved it

So think of a regular scavenger hunt and throw that out of the window! This is a brand new version of getting to know the city, through a very unique set of tasks. The best part? Each person will experience something that’s unique to them in the best way possible. Tara is so much fun and so energetic and has a true sense of what she wants us to achieve with this fun game. Working as a team together. Discovering interesting new things about the island and the local people. Discovering strengths of each team member. Sharing our experiences with everyone once the game had ended. All the laughter and smiles that followed!!

I went on the scavenger hunt with my 10-year-old daughter and we both had an amazing time. It is great for interacting with the locals, having an adventure and experiencing the fun of Hanalei! We learned about the history and culture of Hanalei and Kauai and stretched our boundaries. Tara shared her own stories and added to the experience with interesting anecdotes. We highly recommend this unique way to discover a new place!

Although we had to cut our hunt short, we really enjoyed finding several of the items on the list. I would do this close to when you arrive. It gives you a fun way to learn lots of things you may not have known.

This was a fun experience for our family of 4 (2 under 16). It made us talk to locals and step out of our comfort zone a bit. Tara was a wonderful host. She even went above and beyond to tell us a fun story as a prize when the youngest of our group (10) asked for it.

Great way to meet locals, engage with the community, and bond with the family. It brought out the competitive nature and was a fun way to explore and learn about Hanalei. Great guide and we recommend it.
