We had a great time kayaking! The whole setup and rental process was really easy. Mario, who rented us our gear, was extremely helpful and kind. He was easy to work with, very knowledgeable, and gave us some great tips before we started, especially since I had never kayaked before.Mario even gave us a map showing the recommended route to the islands, which was really helpful. I would highly recommend following the route they give you. There are a lot of rocks between the shoreline and the islands, which is why they recommend staying close to the shoreline for most of the way before heading out toward the islands.We parked at the nearest beach, and the walk from there to the kayak launch point really wasn’t too bad, even with the gear.It took us about 1.5 hours to kayak out because we were going against the current and wind, but the paddle back only took about an hour. I would recommend having at least a moderate level of fitness for this activity, especially if it’s windy that day.We were lucky enough to see manta rays along the way, which was awesome! The monk seals were sunbathing when we arrived, so we weren’t able to do the trail, but it was still well worth the trip.Definitely wear LOTS of sunscreen! You’re exposed to the sun for quite a while, and it’s easy to underestimate how much sun you’re getting while you’re out on the water.Overall, we had a really fun experience and I would definitely recommend it!

Rae was an excellent host for our 5 hour plus tour of the island. He was prompt, courteous and professional, as well as engaging and accommodating. We rode in an almost-new van, which was very comfortable, and Rae offered us drinks and snacks throughout the day. The price for the two of us was extremely reasonable. He made our trip to the island memorable and had us wanting to start asking about real-estate prices! By the time we were done, we began to feel like close friends. Cousin Benny was great. He was entertaining us during the rides to and from Pearl Harbor, and he gave us door to door service from the tour group’s hotels in Waikīkī. He gave us the perfect amount of time to see all the sites at Pearl Harbor. NOTE: I had booked this expecting the advance reservation for USS Arizona to be included, but it was not. However, I was on the 6:30am departure time, and there were very few people at the park by the time we got there because it was so early, so we were easily able to get to the USS Arizona via the standby list. I was on the second boat out for the morning.

We never knew we had a Hawaiian cousin until we experienced this tour! Our newly minted Hawaiian cousin Maya was spectacular. He taught us so much during this tour, made us laugh, and even took us to get Malasada (famous Hawaiian donuts) from a food truck on the way to Pearl Harbor! This is not like any other tour at Pearl, our tour guide walked us in with pre-printed passes for the USS Arizona, gave us a complete understanding of grounds with important tips, everything we must see, and timing to optimize our experience. Very well done cousin!
