We had a fantastic time with Hans Hedemann Surf! What stood out most was how seriously they take safety and professionalism — you can tell the instructors are well-trained and genuinely care about their students.My friend and I booked a semi-private lesson, and our instructor Peter was excellent — patient, calm, and full of helpful tips for beginners. He made us feel comfortable in the water while still pushing us to improve. Highly recommend this school if you’re thinking about trying surfing in Waikiki!The rashguard and reef shoes were included, which was a nice touch. We also got the photo package, and the shots turned out beautifully — great value and a wonderful way to remember the lesson.Will definitely come back next time we’re in Oahu. I had a great experience with North Shore Surf Girls! My instructor, Lawrence, was amazing. He gave me the tips and guidance I needed to stay safe and improve my surfing. I had quite a few wipeouts and even reached a point where I wanted to end the lesson early, but Lawrence encouraged me to keep going and stay positive. Thanks to his patience and support, I was able to catch a wave by the end of the lesson. Catching that wave made the entire experience unforgettable and gave me a real sense of accomplishment.For an additional fee, they also had a photographer there to capture the experience, which was a great way to preserve the memories and celebrate the progress I made during the lesson.I highly recommend North Shore Surf Girls to anyone looking to learn how to surf or improve their skills!

I am older woman and first time surfer. Booked for one hour private lesson with Kahu surfing School. The instructor, Mr. Jameson did a great job teaching me the basics and getting me safely riding a bunch of waves and I was able to stand up. I really appreciated how friendly and accommodating he was. Thanks Jameson and Kahu Surfing school for creating memory for me to share it with my grandkids. I had a great day with my instructor, Aimee! As a beginning surfer who had only gotten to knees before, she helped me work on my popup technique and had me surfing in on my feet most waves! A great time, I’ll be back! ❤️

My 9-year-old daughter and I took surf lessons with Jon and Mike, and it was definitely a highlight of our trip. Jon was incredibly patient with my first-timer daughter, and she gained confidence and improved with every wave. Mike took me to an amazing surf spot- at first the waves felt pretty overwhelming, but with his careful guidance and helpful feedback, I was able to surf them. Such an incredible experience we’ll always remember. Mahalo!!!

Mike was a pleasure! My family of 6 had a lot going on throughout our 9 days on Oahu. We found ourselves with an afternoon at the north shore with an open agenda. My oldest son convinced us all that surf lessons would be awesome to do in Hawaii/north shore. I called around, not with confidence we would get a session given the short notice. To my surprise....with in 45 minutes after my initial phone conversation with Mike, I was watching my boys (18,16 and 14) SURFING!! Mike provided A+ service and lessons. Mike has great knowledge of the water, surfing and how to teach children from all types of skill levels. Thanks, Mike!!!

My wife and I had an incredible first-time surfing experience thanks to our instructor, Moki. From the moment we hit the beach, Moki was supportive, energetic, respectful, and incredibly kind. He made sure that no matter what, we were able to get up and ride a wave—something we didn’t think would happen on our first try!Moki stayed by our side the entire session, pulling us out to the waves, checking in constantly for safety, and giving us clear, motivating guidance. With his help, both of us were able to stand up and catch waves multiple times, which made the whole experience unforgettable.Although our session started about 45 minutes later than originally scheduled, we quickly realized it was because Moki wanted us to have the best conditions possible—and he absolutely delivered. The wait was 100% worth it for the value and experience we received.We truly got our money’s worth and then some. We can’t recommend this surf school enough for first-time surfers. Ask for Moki—you won’t regret it!

I had a lot of fun with Ray he told me how to foil in one lesson I even took a kite boarding lesson after one of the best days of my life.

Josh is awesome to work with. His equipment is great and well taken care of. He matches the equipment to your needs and has many options. He is a long time Kailua local and knows the spots and conditions. Foiling was fun and he made it easy. Two way radio helmet meant no need to return to him for coaching just spend all your minutes having fun with Coaching as you to. Josh is safety focused and a very patient teacher. Highly recommend.

Instructors were absolutely amazing , if you know absolutely nothing about surfing this is where you should go to learn

We had a phenomenal experience with Niko. He was great and gave us lots great tips and tricks to do as brand new people to surf boarding. He is a great instructor. If you the option ask for Niko when you book your private or semi private lessons.

My son, daughter and myself had a two-hour private lesson with Amy. She was a fantastic instructor; knowledgeable, warm and friendly and super easygoing. She clearly communicated what she wanted us to do when we were out in the waves and gave us ongoing feedback about ways in which we could improve. At all times we felt safe and confident in her care.

I took a 2 hr. private surfing lesson with North Shore Surf Girls in December. It was the best instructional surfing experience I’ve ever had. Carol Philips, is a master of her craft. Unlike other schools, she focuses on surfing mechanics and explains the "why" behind every action. She provided actionable feedback, prioritized safety and culture, and adapted her teaching perfectly to my learning style. If you want to actually learn how to surf book with North Shore Surf Girls!

This moment is kept sentimentally on my birthday #30! I had such a great time, and I enjoyed getting to know this beautiful sport so much. I couldn't stop trying it and my mood never broke, all those waves brought me a big smile and so much joy! I want to thank your team and especially Andy! He is so good that he used his experience so that we know what it feels like to get on the board

As a beginner but aspiring surfer, Mike was the perfect instructor. I went out with him twice over the course of my week in Oahu and each time the entire experience (location, board, focus areas) was customized to match my skill-level and goals. Mike instructed and gave a lot of great advice, but also gave me the autonomy to make mistakes (safely) so I could learn from them. I surfed later in my trip and felt like I had made a lot of progress after my sessions with Mike. He’s also a good dude to hang in the water with. Will definitely be back next time I’m on Oahu
