He really took the time to make sure we felt safe and confident in the water, while still making the lesson so much fun.Thanks to Kainoe, we managed to catch some waves and had such an unforgettable experience! You can really tell that he loves what he does and genuinely enjoys teaching people how to surf. Great time. I got up successfully after a few tries, and got up almost every time after that. I had time for a little more than 20 attempts. They gave us 12 foot longboards to use. They also provided a rash guard shirt and shoes, so you don’t need to bring those. There is a grassy area where family members who are not surfing can watch.

We've been to Hans Hedemann Surf School twice - once recently and once 2 years ago. That says a lot right there. We had such a good experience the first time that we were willing to pay for it a second time. The safety prep is done well and the instructors really stick with you out in the water. It's been a great experience overall.

We had the best experience! We booked a semi private lesson for 3 first time young adult surfers (17-25). Same day booking was easy and accommodating. Kala was great with communication and where to meet up. Our instructor Aton made our experience fantastic! He helped us catch the waves and we were up on the first wave! Not only helpful with surfing, but with all local questions and recommendations of the island. Our favorite of all the experiences we did! Highly recommend!

I tried surfing for the first time ever in Hawaii! I had such a blast in the group lesson and met a lot of nice people! The instructor’s Devon and Theo were very friendly and knowledgeable about surfing and they were very encouraging to everyone as most of us were all newbies. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to try something new and get out of their comfort zone. I will say it is quite the workout to paddle out to the waves and does get exhausting. If you are aren’t in decent physical shape and very comfortable around the ocean I would caution you for safety to make sure this is something you are comfortable doing. It was a blast and I can’t wait to go back to Maui and try again!

Highly recommend and would definitely use again we did semi private lesson for my 10 and 13 year old and also the private at the same time for my 6 year old the booking and checkin process was easy their instructors Dillon and Josh were great and they had the best time the asked to do it again the next day! They all caught waves and said the instructors were fun and helpful! Checkin provided a rash guard and surf shoes and I felt like the price for 2 hours was more than reasonable! Will definitely use again the next time we are back!

Brian, Kain and Gabby were the best instructors. We had a private lesson for our family of 6, including 4 kids under 13. We had so much fun, my kids declared this the best part of the entire trip. We weren’t sure if we would get our lesson in because it was incredibly windy but Brian found us a great spot with calmer waves and everyone was able to get up on the board. I really can’t recommend Soul Surf enough, no regrets!!

Super fun private surf lesson at stoke drift surf school. Instructor Kiai was awesome super fun dude to spend the morning with learning to surf. Made learning easy and fun and we both caught a ton of waves. The photos taken were great too. Awesome experience, totally worth it and highly recommended.
