Hawaii Fishing

This was a highly anticipated experience during our travel. We were not disappointed. The experience was fun for my party of 6. You don’t go miles and miles off shore, and we didn’t experience any large fish, but still had a great time.

It was s great experience! We caught a 200 pound Marlin!

The fish didn’t cooperate thanks to Hurricane Lala, but the crew was fantastic and the experience was still great. Clayton told us great stories and was a pleasure to hang out with, even if we didn’t get a single bite. Always next time!

Fishing trip was amazing. Awesome views of the Waikiki Beach coastline and Diamondhead! Captain Joe and 1st Mate Andy kept us on the fish. Had a really fantastic time. Highly recommend this short, convenient trip while in Waikiki!

I took a full-day shared charter with Waikiki Sport Fishing on August 6th, 2026, and had an absolute blast from start to finish. There were 6 anglers total, and this ended up being one of the best fishing experiences I’ve ever had.Before we even left the dock, Captain and the crew did a great job making sure everyone was prepared and understood everything we needed to know. They were extremely informative throughout the day and kept us updated on what was happening and what to expect.About two hours into the trip, we came across a pod of pilot whales — an incredible bonus and something I certainly wasn’t expecting to see while out fishing.Since this was a shared charter, we each had to pick a card to determine our rod number. About three hours into the trip, one of the rods went off — and it was a 100+ lb Yellowfin Tuna! This was by far the biggest fish I’ve ever fought, and it was an absolute beast. It took a tremendous amount of work, time, and teamwork to get it to the boat. Multiple people got the opportunity to take turns reeling it in, which made the experience even more memorable for everyone.Once we finally got the tuna aboard, the crew immediately took care of it — bonked and bled it, cleaned portions of it, and kept the fish fresh on a bed of ice in the fish hold while we continued trolling. The crew really knew what they were doing and took great care of the catch.Then, during the last hour of the trip, we got a couple more exciting hits. One rod went off, and within about 30 seconds another rod got hit. The captain and folks on the upper deck spotted that it was a Blue Marlin. Unfortunately, it spit the hook before we could get it engaged. Having a Marlin on the boat too would have been the perfect ending, but honestly, after landing that huge tuna, I wasn’t complaining!One thing that really stood out to me was that we were the only boat I saw that had fish that entire morning/afternoon, and we came back with a massive Yellowfin Tuna. Owner Nick is a very reasonable guy, and it’s clear that he has put together a great crew that knows these waters extremely well.I also really appreciate that Waikiki Sport Fishing offers anglers the opportunity to take home a significant portion of their catch (depending on the size of the fish), which is something not every charter offers. They also offer cleaning, filleting, and vacuum-packing services for an additional fee, which is incredibly convenient if you want to bring your catch home and enjoy it later.If you’re visiting Honolulu and enjoy fishing, don’t miss the opportunity to get out on the water with Waikiki Sport Fishing. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just looking for an unforgettable Hawaiian adventure, this is absolutely worth doing.Huge thanks to Nick and the entire crew for an incredible day. We had a great experience on the fishing tour! Communication was smooth from the beginning, and the crew was very welcoming. Check-in was easy, and the boat never felt crowded. Each group had plenty of space to fish comfortably, which made the experience relaxed and enjoyable.The crew gave helpful instructions and provided plenty of personal attention throughout the trip. As a beginner, I was especially grateful for their guidance—and I got lucky with three fish! We took pictures and released all three right afterward. Most of the other groups also caught multiple fish, so there was plenty of action throughout the trip.There was also an option to keep eligible fish. If participants chose to keep their catch, the crew would process it, wrap it, and keep it chilled for them to claim at the end of the tour. It was nice to have the choice depending on what each group preferred.A couple of helpful tips for future guests: make sure adults purchase their fishing license in advance. The requirement and the link are provided on the tour booking page, so it’s easy to take care of ahead of time.The water was quite smooth during our trip, although several passengers still experienced motion sickness. The crew had ginger candies available, which was a thoughtful touch and seemed to help.Overall, a fun, well-organized trip with a great crew. I’d definitely recommend it, especially for beginners!

Our cruise was absolutely amazing! Captain and first mate Lyndsey went above and beyond to make our snorkel trip an experience of a lifetime! We saw so many fish and turtles! Lunch was delicious and the boat was beautiful! Would definitely highly recommend!! Thanks guys for helping us make lasting memories for our 40th anniversary!!

We had an amazing experience with Waikiki Sport Fishing with Captain Eric and Eliza! From start to finish, they were professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Captain Eric clearly knows fishing inside and out — especially how to read the birds and ocean activity to find where the fish are, which was fascinating to learn and made the trip even more exciting. We caught a butterfly ball skip jack ~25lbs) and two large Wahoo(ono)!!!What really stood out was how willing they were to customize the trip exactly to what we wanted. They took the time to answer all of our questions, explain details about the fishing, the island, and the surrounding waters, and made sure we got the experience we were hoping for. Their knowledge of Oahu and the ocean was impressive, and they made the entire trip feel personal, relaxed, and fun.If you’re looking for a memorable fishing charter in Waikiki with a crew that truly cares about creating a great experience, we highly recommend Captain Eric and Eliza!

Our 6-hour charter with Ocean Kona Blue Boat Tours was the highlight of our Hawaii trip! Captain Kevin and Maddie were incredible—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring, especially when one of our boys got a little seasick. Every one of us caught fish, the snorkeling was fantastic, and Maddie even found beautiful shells for the kids to take home. Lunch was delicious, and we got to watch a pod of dolphins while we ate-so cool! Kevin was upfront about the rougher seas that morning and offered to refund the trip if we weren't comfortable sailing, but he made the entire experience safe and memorable. They truly treated us like family and gave us great recommendations for the rest of our time in Kona and on Maui. Our four boys are still talking about it!

Mike and Kahi are a fantastic crew. We have been fishing with them before and enjoy there company, the care they give to the sea, the boat and us. The waters were very challenging this year with the amount of rain they received the weeks prior, but they worked the water and birds to help my son catch his first MahiMahi. We had a great day on the water and will absolutely reach out for a fishing trip next time we’re visiting Oahu.
