We had the best experience! We booked a semi private lesson for 3 first time young adult surfers (17-25). Same day booking was easy and accommodating. Kala was great with communication and where to meet up. Our instructor Aton made our experience fantastic! He helped us catch the waves and we were up on the first wave! Not only helpful with surfing, but with all local questions and recommendations of the island. Our favorite of all the experiences we did! Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time with Hans Hedemann Surf! What stood out most was how seriously they take safety and professionalism — you can tell the instructors are well-trained and genuinely care about their students.My friend and I booked a semi-private lesson, and our instructor Peter was excellent — patient, calm, and full of helpful tips for beginners. He made us feel comfortable in the water while still pushing us to improve. Highly recommend this school if you’re thinking about trying surfing in Waikiki!The rashguard and reef shoes were included, which was a nice touch. We also got the photo package, and the shots turned out beautifully — great value and a wonderful way to remember the lesson.Will definitely come back next time we’re in Oahu. Ivan was incredibly helpful and such an amazing teacher! My boyfriend is a bit of a slow learner (sorry for the shade 😂), but thanks to Ivan's instruction, he was able to pop up and ride waves on his very first day! That really says a lot about Ivan's teaching skills. Ivan was super encouraging and got us out in the water right away, which I honestly think is the best way to learn. Instead of spending the whole lesson on the beach, he had us practicing on real waves while giving us feedback and helping us improve each time. It made such a difference. It was absolutely worth every penny, and I'd highly recommend taking a lesson with him!

Fabulous experience for my two kids who are 7 and 5. Leann and Reeves were so professional and made it so fun. The kids had a blast. They also took amazing photos and videos. I highly recommend this activity while visiting Honolulu. We will definitely do it again.

My family loved our surf lessons on the North Shore with Andy from 808 Surf School. Booking was super easy—808 was quick to respond and really helpful with all our questions. Andy was friendly, patient, safety‑focused, and just a fantastic instructor overall. The spot he took us to was perfect for learning: uncrowded, shallow, and easy to get to. We were able to park right on the side of the road and walk straight out to the water. After the lesson, we grabbed food nearby, which was ideal. We had so much fun, and it honestly ended up being the highlight of our Hawai‘i vacation. We all felt comfortable and actually caught waves. I highly recommend 808 Surf School for a family‑friendly surf experience on Oahu.

This was such a fun and memorable experience. We took our 8 year old for her first surf lesson! The instructors were friendly, professional and really great with kids. They had a wet suit and life jacket for her. The instruction was spot on. They got into the water pretty quickly! She was up and surfing (with help from Cody) on the first run. She said her favorite part was the couple of times they "wiped out." I highly recommend this.

We had a very wet week in Hawaii, with most planned activities cancelled due to rain and storms. Didn’t matter to my kids, however, because the thing they wanted to do most was try surfing and their lessons with Surf HNL were a success! Both kids had a blast, and were up riding the waves quickly. The booking was straightforward, the communication in advance clear, and the lessons great. Finding the location would have been challenging without the advance communications, but was easy enough day-of.

I had an amazing experience with Jake from Manifesting Aloha Surf School. He was awesome — incredibly experienced, friendly, and patient throughout the entire lesson. You can tell he really knows his stuff, but what stood out most was how comfortable and confident he made me feel in the water.Jake is originally from Minnesota, which made him easy to connect with, and he brought such a relaxed, positive vibe to the lesson. He took the time to explain everything clearly and encouraged me the whole way.I would absolutely recommend Jake to anyone who’s trying to learn how to surf — whether you’re a total beginner or just looking to improve. Truly a great experience! 🌊🏄‍♂️
