This is a charming, insightful and a even little bit suspenseful experience as he takes a raw piece of wood to a finished carving before your eyes. There's nothing like us in all of Hawai'i. Enjoy our unique "Migrations" Galleries that trace Hawai'i's history through costumes, dance implements and musical instruments of the various cultures that have migrated to Hawai'i. Conveniently located in Central Maui you can also shop and enjoy the Queen Ka'ahumanu Food Court.

What To Expect
This is 1 hour experience.
Arrive early to check in and peruse our three galleries of cultural costume exhibits that depict the Migrations to Hawai’i over the centuries, and how the various cultures influenced dance, art and Hawaiian life. From the First Polynesians to plantation era to modern Hawai’i, this is a vibrant and educational series of displays sure to delight and enlighten.
Then starting at 1:00pm, enjoy an hour of Talk Story by our expert wood carver.
He’ll explain the tools, methods and his approach to the ancient craft.
Watch as he creates a carving from start to finish and shares some of the history, tradition, and symbology of Polynesian carving and his own family’s generations of carving.
You'll even get a chance to give it a try. No experience necessary.
All ages. Great for the whole family.
